Reacting quickly to a call for help, Delhi Police acted on time and nabbed a robber who had barged into a jewellery shop in South-West Delhi's Bindapur. The shopowners’ wife alerted the cop after she noticed the robbers had overpowered her husband at gunpoint.

28-year-old Annu raised an alarm after three robbers entered the shop situated on the ground floor of their house in Bindapur area on Saturday night.

Police said Annu, her husband, Rajesh Kumar and their children lived in the Manas Kunj area of Bindapur. The couple runs a jewellery shop on the ground floor; they reside on the first floor. “The incident occurred on Saturday night when Rajesh was at the shop. Three bike-borne armed assailants arrived when Rajesh was about to down the shutters. One of the assailants whipped out his gun as the other miscreants ransacked the shop," a senior police officer said.

Police said Annu peered into the shop to find her husband hostage at gunpoint. She alerted the neighbours. "The neighbours and a Delhi Police beat constable managed to nab one robber while the other two fled with Rs 30,000 cash," the officer added. The arrested robber has been identified as Arvind Kumar (28), resident of Uttam Nagar. Police said his aides have been identified and a hunt has been launched to nab them. Police also said they would reward the woman and her two neighbours for their efforts in nabbing the robber.
