A clash erupted between doctors and relatives of a patient at National Capital's Bara Hindu Rao Hospital on Saturday night after a woman died due to alleged negligence.

Police said that two doctors Rajesh Kumar and Pranay were allegedly beaten by the attendants of the deceased.

According to a senior police official, one chronic kidney failure patient Rajbala, a resident of Roop Nagar here, was admitted in critical condition in casualty of Hindu Rao Hospital on Saturday at around 11.40 pm.

"She died during treatment, following which her husband, son and other relatives gathered and started quarrelling with doctors on duty," said the senior police official.

"In the meantime, her son slapped a doctor. Soon after the doctors gathered and a scuffle erupted again in which two doctors got minor injuries, the senior police officer said.

"Thereafter, police were informed and a case has been registered against the attendants of the patient on the complaint of Dr Jagmohan, Human Resource for Health of the Hospital on behalf of Kumar and Pranay. However, the relatives of patient also submitted their written complaint alleging that the death of Rajbala was due to the negligence and delay in treatment by the doctors," said the senior police official

"The body has been sent to mortuary for the postmortem which will be conducted by a board of doctors to find out if there had been any negligence of doctors," said the senior police official.

"The situation in the hospital is completely normal and police staff has been deployed at casualty and mortuary of Hindu Rao Hospital," said the senior police official.
