A 26-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping in front of Delhi Metro at Model Town Metro station on Saturday. Police said that the girl was undergoing treatment for depression and no foul play is suspected in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Sonakshi Garg, a resident of Delhi's Paharganj area. Police have also recovered a suicide note from the possession of the deceased in which she had held no one responsible for her action.
According to a senior police official, on Saturday a police control room (PCR) call regarding the incident was received at Azadpur Metro Station police station.
"Acting on the call, a police team rushed to the spot. The girl had died on the spot. The body of the deceased has been shifted to BJRM hospital for autopsy," said the senior police official.
"During initial investigation, it was revealed that the girl was undergoing treatment for depression for a longtime. Police have initiated inquest proceedings and further investigation is going on," the police official added.
