Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, on Monday, announced a resolute stance against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, granting a “free hand” to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to decisively tackle terrorists and their support ecosystem.
Speaking at the Passing-out Parade of the 17th Batch of Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySsP) and 26th Batch of Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) in Udhampur, Sinha emphasised a coordinated effort to eradicate terrorism in the region.
“I have given a free hand to the Jammu and Kashmir Police Force and security forces to deal with the terrorists and terror eco-system within J and K. I want the mighty police force, the most powerful Indian Army, and the valiant CAPF to work together to wipe out the terrorists and their support system,” Sinha declared.
He called for intensified, targeted strikes on Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and those providing logistical and financial support to terrorists, stressing that such elements must face justice.
A total of 49 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 1,112 Probationary Sub-Inspectors completed their rigorous training at SKPA, Udhampur.
Congratulating the new officers, Sinha urged them to uphold the values, traditions, and ethos of the J and K Police. He extended his felicitations to the trainers, academy officials, and families of the passing-out officers for their unwavering support.
Sinha underscored the importance of intelligence-driven anti-terror operations, stating, “Complete eradication of terrorism from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir is our top priority.”
He advocated a multi-pronged approach, integrating modern technology like Artificial Intelligence for enhanced data collection and analysis to counter security threats, prevent radicalisation and address adverse situations.
Highlighting the enduring value of beat policing and area policing, he said, “Despite remarkable changes in technology, there is no alternative to beat policing and area policing. We must strike a fine balance between Techint and Humint to strengthen overall counter-terrorism efforts.”
The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized fostering collective vigilance within communities to enable a coordinated response against terrorism and build trust across society. “This collective vigilance will not only ensure a robust response against terrorists but also strengthen ties with all sections of society,” he added.
Garib Dass, Director, Udhampur Police Academy, briefed about the programme and various activities conducted during the Training course.
The training program equipped recruits with high proficiency in New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence, cybercrime, narco-terrorism, general warfare, field craft and tactics, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, human rights and law and order.
