Why Cong delaying AIIMS-like institute in Raebareli: Akhilesh

Published on:

Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav has questioned the Congress intention for delay in setting up an AIIMS-like medical institute in Raebareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

“You ask Congress, why they are delaying the project when the UP Government has given required land free of cost for the medical institute,’’ he said while replying to the queries of the reporters here on Sunday.

Akhilesh further said that the earlier BSP Government had refused to give the land for the purpose but SP Government immediately handed over the required land and now there should not be any delay in construction of the hospital.

However, Congress MlA Akhilesh Pratap Singh, defending the Central Government, said that the process for the AIIMS-like medical institute in Raebareli was on progress. He said a high-level team of the Centre had recently visited Raebareli for the purpose.

The Uttar Pradesh Government in February last had provided land free of cost to the Centre for setting up institute. About 148.15 acres of land have been identified — 98.30 acres of Nandganj Sihori Sugar Mill and 49.85 acres of farmers land of Sultanpur Aima and Dariyapur villages. “The ball is now in Centre’s court. They should tell people about the delay,” the Chief Minister said.
