A 24-year-old web designer was arrested for allegedly stalking a girl in South Delhi's Sarojini Nagar. The accused was stalking her for the last six months and had also threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident.
Police said Ashok Verma, who worked as a web designer with a private company, lived with his family in Dwarka. "The arrest was made on Thursday evening following the complaint of the 23-year-old victim, who had lodged a complaint with Sarojni Nagar Police station on Wednesday," a senior police officer said. The victim told the police that around eight months ago, she met the accused at a private computer training institute.
"They exchanged phone numbers and after some weeks he proposed her for marriage, but she refused his proposal. After the completion of her course, she never met Verma, but he started calling her at odd hours," the officer added. He always stalked her and on Wednesday he even slapped her. Infuriated with the constant stalking, the victim approached the police and based on her statement, a case was registered under Sections 354 D (stalking, 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (threatening) of the IPC at Sarojini Nagar Police station.
