In a day-long whirlwind tour of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Telangana on Tuesday not only strengthened the BJP-Telugu Desam Party alliance but also brought another ally on board.
While TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu was all praise for Modi and publicly declared his wish to see Modi as the next Prime Minister, loksatta president Jayprakash Narayan also met Modi separately and declared his support for him.
Out of the four rallies of Modi across Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu shared the dais in Mahubnagar and Hyderabad. He honoured Modi with a shawl, a momento and a bouquet. When Naidu was returning to his chair on the dais, Modi, in a heart-winning gesture made Naidu sit in the special chair which organisers had kept for Modi and sat on the ordinary chair.
“Nobody has the power to stop Modi from becoming the PM,” Naidu told a massive gathering at lal Bahadur stadium in Hyderabad. “Only Modi has the ability to take India to the level of developed countries”, he said.
Naidu expressed his confidence on Modi’s capabilities to develop India like he has developed Gujarat. “Even for the development of Telangana it is necessary that Modi should become the Prime Minister. He will complete the Chevella-Pranahita project as a national project”, Naidu said.
He exuded confidence that the next Government in Telangana will be a BJP-TDP alliance Government. Naidu announced that the country was facing two serious challenges of rampant corruption and weak leadership. “Modi will provide a strong leadership and eradicate corruption,” Naidu said.
He further boasted of a strong Modi wave which was sweeping the nation and people are looking upto NDA Government to solve their problems. “Congress is going to be crushed and its candidates will not be able to save their deposits”.
Soon after Modi landed in a chopper at the Begumpet Airport, lok Satta president Jayprakash Narayan also met him. Coming out of the meeting JP told the media that his party was supporting Modi as the Prime Minister on the basis of his four-point agenda of eradication of corruption, employment generation for the youth, good governance and India first against all.
JP also thanked film star Pavan Kalyan for his support to his candidature from Malkajgiri. However it can create problems for the TDP, which has also fielded its candidate from the constituency.
