Waiter's son tops Assam Board exam

Published on:

Fighting against odds, a waiter's son topped the Class X examination conducted by the State run Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) this year.

Sarfaraz Hussain, who appeared in the exam along with around 400,000 students, scored 590 out of total 600. Sarfaraz's father Ajmal Hussain works as a waiter at a restaurant-cum-bar in Assam's capital Guwahati.

Sarfaraz brought laurels to his family and school — Sankardev Sishu Niketan, which has poor infrastructure.  Sankardev Sishu Niketan and Sankardev Vidya Niketan in Assam are a group of schools run by the Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, a State-level affiliate committee of Vidya Bharati, the educational wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
