Vistara gives free tickets to kin of soldiers hurt in Uri attack

In a humanitarian gesture to the Armed forces, private airlines Vistara has given free tickets to families of 25 soldiers injured in the Uri attack on September 18 to enable relatives to visit the jawans undergoing medical treatment in Army Hospitals in Srinagar and New Delhi respectively.

Besides, the airline has also offered free tickets to the injured jawans to return home after recovering. Otherwise, these personnel are entitled to free warrant to travel by train to their native places, officials said here on Monday.

"This is a small gesture of our gratitude to the brave-heart Uri soldiers for their selfless service to the nation. This was the least we could do to unite the injured soldiers with their family," a Vistara spokesperson said.

Since Vistara does not operate in many cities, especially to Patna and most of the injured hailed from Bihar, the airline provided free tickets from the nearby airport in Varanasi. The tickets offered were either for premium economy or business class, Defence sources said.
