Agitated over the rape and killing of a 12-year-old girl in Mathura, hundreds of villagers turned violent on Tuesday morning. They brutally assaulted the accused before handing them in the custody of the police.
Surprisingly, the cops had dumped at a secluded place the body of the accused who had died in police custody. This further agitated the villagers and they went on rampage and also blocked the rail traffic for several hours. It was only when senior officers reached the spot and suspended the in-charge of the local police outpost, the villagers cleared the track.
Reports said that a minor girl hailing from Parkham locality of Mathura had gone to graze her cattle on Monday evening. When she did not return home, the family members launched a hunt but they failed to get any clue. On Tuesday morning, the family members during search located the body of the girl lying inside thick bushes near Parkham railway station.
The circumstantial evidence suggested that the victim was raped before being murdered by the accused who later dumped the body in the bushes to conceal the crime. The family members suspected the hands of laluwa aka Shyam Valmiki (28), and Sonu Valmiki in the said crime so they nabbed both and brutally assaulted them. When both turned serious, local villagers handed them over to incharge of the local Parkham police outpost, Nepal Singh.
Reports said that after finding that Shyam died few minutes after the villagers left the police outpost, Nepal Singh reportedly dumped his body and only admitted Sonu in the hospital.
