Bangalore-based Malayalee businessman MK Kuruvila, who claims to be a victim of the infamous solar scam, on Wednesday alleged unholy connections between Kerala’s Congress Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and gangster Ravi Pujari.
“What is the connection between the Chief Minister and gangster Ravi PujariIJ I received a threatening call from Pujari in two days after lodging a complaint (against Chandy),” Kuruvila, who claims to have lost Rs 1.35 crore in the scam in the name of installation of a solar power project, said in Thrissur. Kuruvila said that he had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister on October 17 last year saying that two persons named Andrews, who introduced himself as a relative of Chandy, and Daljit, who posed as the CM’s personal secretary, had duped him of Rs 1.35 crore in the name of a solar power plant. “Within two or three days of this, I received a phone call from Dubai-based Pujari,” he said. According to Kuruvila, Pujari questioned his boldness to complain against Chandy, Andrews and Daljit, saying that they were close to him. “Pujari threatened me by saying that he would destroy my family if I went ahead with the complaint,” he said.
Kuruvila’s petition in the Kerala High Court seeking a Crime Branch probe on his complaint in connection with the scam had the other day caused a huge embarrassment for Chandy with the court asking the police why there was no inquiry to find out whether the cheating had taken place with the Chief Minister’s knowledge. Kuruvila was arrested recently on cheating charge. According to Kuruvila, the Kerala Police had arrested him on the basis of fabricated charges because he had spoken against Chandy. He told newspersons that he had all the documents to prove that the charges were fabricated.
