Another prominent offshoot of Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), also opposed the land Acquisition Bill as its president Pravin Toghadia said the VHP is against the Bill. Togadia said the land of farmers should not be acquired. “Nearly 50 per cent land in the country is non-agricultural. We want industries to come and develop, but give the non-agricultural land to the industrialists,” said Toghadia while clearing VHP’s stand. Talking at a function in Ahmedabad earlier in the week, he also suggested the State and Central Governments that there is a need to change viewpoint towards farmers.
