The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), which is celebrating gold jubilee year of its establishment, will organise a country wide blood donation camp on November 2 to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the firing on the karsevaks at Ayodhya.
VHP leader and spokesperson Sharad Sharma said in a statement issued here on Sunday that the organisation has fixed a target to collect one lakh units of blood in the camps to be set up in the entire country. In lucknow alone, the organisation has fixed a target to collect 1,000 units while in the entire Awadh region the target is 4,000 units. Registration for donating the bloods has started from Sunday.
Sharma said that there is always shortage of blood for the patients and this move would certainly give some respite to the ailing people. “We request all the people to come register themselves at the nearest centres and donate blood,” he said.
VHP in the past has always observed November 2 as a Balidan Diwas as a mark of respect for the karsevaks who were killed in the police firing during the Mulayam Singh Yadav’s tenure.
Hundreds of the kar sewaks were injured in the firing too. “Blood donation would be a true homage to the our brothers who sacrificed their lives for the cause,” Sharma said in the statement.
