The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded the immediate scrapping of both the Minority Commission and the Minority Affairs Ministry "as these two institutions give credence to a separatist mindset". In a long statement issued here on Monday about the two-day-long Central Governing Council meeting details, the VHP said it also passed resolutions for bringing laws for cow protection and construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
The Central Governing Council of VHP was convened at Vadtal in Gujarat on June 24 and 25. "VHP resolution stated that the working of the Minority Commission creates a false feeling that the Muslim and Christian community is being persecuted. However, the reality is that it is they who are responsible for the persecution of not only Hindus but o the other minority communities like the Sikhs and the Buddhists too. The Jehadis and Missionaries are not the persecuted but the persecutors. With the help of the Minority Commission, they gather sympathy and carry out their anti-Hindu and anti-national activities," said the statement issued by Surendra Kumar Jain, VHP Joint General Secretary.
"The resolutions passed by Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal of the sadhu-sants in Haridwar were endorsed by the Central Committee of the VHP in its meeting held at the birth-place of Sardar Patel asking the government to enact a law for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya without any further delay. The Iron-Man Sardar Patel has already shown us, by the example of Somnath Temple, how this can be done. The best tribute to the Iron-Man would be if the Ram temple could be built on the lines of the Somnath Temple," it added.
The VHP also sought clarification from Finance Minister on the GST implications on temples and other Hindu religious organizations. Raising apprehensions of a possible tax burden after GST implementation, the VHP demanded the continuation of existing exemption from all taxes in the activities of temple boards and other Hindu religious bodies.
