Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has blamed BJP’s poor organisational management and over confidence of the leaders as the reason for party’s ignominious defeat in the Gorakhpur and Phulpur bye-elections, results of which were announced on Wednesday.
Senior VHP leader and Sangh pracharak Purshottam Narain Singh said that the results have exposed the party structure and its working style. “There is a need to improve this,” Singh said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that BJP Government is doing its work but the party organisation has failed to keep a pace with the Government. “Party lost this election because of the indifference of these leaders. This result also speaks volumes about the election strategy,” he said.
“This is the time for introspection. The workers are the bulwark of any organisation. If they are not active the organisation is bound to fail. The onus is now on the party leadership to analyse the result. The party should take corrective steps immediately otherwise it may prove doom for the organisation,” Singh said.
VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma said that this defeat is not of any person or Government. The party should take responsibility of this defeat. “Winning and losing elections is part of the game and leaders should take it in that stride,” he said.
