'Vested interests denying mobile connectivity to North-East'

Arunachal Pradesh Congress MP Ninong Ering, in a recent letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claimed that “vested interests are bent on denying mobile connectivity” to the people of the northeast and, in particular, to Arunachal Pradesh. He threatened to sit on a day-long protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statute inside the Parliament if the project is not cleared by August 14.

Arunachal Pradesh has two lok Sabha seats and the other constituency, Arunachal West, is represented by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh East seat is represented by Ering who is from Congress party. Ering, has also faulted some un-named bureaucrats who, he alleged, were “acting unprofessionally” in this case.

“In my last meeting with Hon’ble minister in April 2017, he told me that the bids had been finalized and BSNl would place purchase orders with successful bidders by the mid May. Placing purchase order is the first steps towards implementation of the project,” the letter said.
