The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has revealed that the protests and demonstrations in the Kashmir valley were not happening randomly or spontaneously. They were talking place  as per  elaborate calendar of protests authorised by the separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik well in advance and spread  through newspapers and other social media platform.

These calendars' have detailed instructions of hartals, picketing, blockage of routes and roads, suspension of public transport, writing of graffiti on the walls, instruction for organizing processions and marches and observe August 15 as Black Day by raising black flags atop their houses, shops and market centre and local chowks and celebrate Pakistan Day with Azadi songs.

The Rs calendars' contains proposed dates s for  complete shutdown of markets and other economic activities, while exhorting people to play Azadi Taranas (songs) and o celebrate Pakistan day by offering special prayers for stability of Pakistan. It also asks separatists s to  provoke people to agitate and instigate against the states and the security forces showing defiance against the Government of India.

According to a chargesheet filed by the NIA in a terror funding in Jammu and Kashmir, the 'protest calendar', recovered from Geelani's son-in-law Altaf Ahmad Shah 'Funtoosh', shows show Hurriyat has fuelled violence in the Valley that led to several deaths and hundreds of injuries in clashes between stone pelters and security forces.

"The calendar was carrying a detailed instruction between August 6 and August 16, 2016. It was signed by the chairman of APHC Syed Ali Shah Geelani.  The calendars' have detailed instructions of hartals, picketing, blockage of routes and roads, suspension of public transport, writing of graffiti on the walls, instruction for organizing processions and marches."

"It also contains complete shut down of markets and other economic activities, exhorting people to play Azadi Taranas (songs), to celebrate Pakistan day by offering special prayers for stability of Pakistan and provoke people to agitate and instigate against the states and the security forces showing defiance against the Government of India," the charge sheet said.

"A perusal  of the calendar clearly shows the involvement of APHC in promoting unrest and unlawful activities in the Valley by issuing such directions as not allowing government employees to join office , directing the law enforcement agencies to leave Kashmir, directing the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions to resign, directing people to play Azadi songs in masjids for the whole days," it said.

The NIA alleged that these protest calendars, on the face value appear to pass on instructions for peaceful demonstration, dharnas and picketing. But they in fact have led to large scale violence, arson and loss of life of civilians and security personnel. The methodology  of these protests was to place road blocks and disrupt the movement of private and public transport.

The NIA investigation further revealed that the APHC has its own network and cadres-President at district level, block head at the block level and other members and cadres.

These district level functionaries and the members of Hurriyat remain in touch wit the active terrorists of various terrorist organizations including Hizb-ul-Mujahiddin, lashkar-e-Toiba and motivate and instigate the youth of their areas to join these terrorist organizations to wage war against the Indian Government.

The NIA has stated that during the period from August 6 to 16, the protests were very violent and led to the registeration of 89 cases of stone pelting and other unlawful activities including arson, school burning and damage to public property and vehicles. In these cases, 366 persons were arrested, 175 got injured and seven were got killed.

As per information furnished by the BSF, 40 BSF personnel received injuries while dealing stone pelting incident. Furhter 35 incidents of school burning were reported from July 2016 to July 2017.
