Vaiko slams Centre for soft attitude towards Sl

Vaiko, the MDMK general secretary and an alliance partner of the BJP, continued his diatribe against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for soft approach towards the Sri lanka.

A rabid supporter of the liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the terrorist organisation which assassinated former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and thousands of innocent persons both in Sri lanka and India, Vaiko alleged that the Union Government’s close relations with the Sri lankan Government is reason behind the sufferings of Tamil Nadu fishermen who trespass into Sri lankan waters for fishing.

“The defence cooperation between India and Sri lanka is the reason behind the miseries of the fishermen from Tamil Nadu who venture out into the sea for fishing. Why the Indian Government continues with its friendship with Sri lanka is a mystery. The people in Tamil Nadu will teach the Union Government a lesson if it continues with the parleys with Sri lanka,” said Vaiko during a demonstration held at Chennai on Tuesday to protest against hike in milk prices announced by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The MDMK leader blasted the Union Government for Mitra Shakti, a joint anti-terror exercise jointly held by the special forces of India and Sri lanka in the island nation.    The Mitra Shakti combined exercise features specially trained commandoes drawn out from Indian Army and Sri lanka Army.

The 20-day counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism training programme is underway at Uva, a Sri lankan province. “This kind of attitude of the Modi Government is responsible for the Sri lanka High Court’s decision to sentence the five Tamil Nadu fishermen held in a drug trafficking case to death,” said Vaiko. He also charged that Sri lanka is throwing open its ports to Chinese ships and submarines to terrorise India.
