Uttar Pradesh is set to strengthen its digital infrastructure with a proposed 10 MW data centre in Prayagraj, following the issuance of a Letter of Intent (LoI) by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) to Airtel Nxtra Private Limited.

The proposed project, involving an investment of approximately Rs 220 crore, will be established on 4.43 acres of land (Plot Nos. 5 and 7) at Saraswati Hi-Tech City, Prayagraj. The LoI was issued on November 5, 2026, as part of the state Government’s efforts to attract investments in digital infrastructure and technology-driven industries.

Airtel Nxtra Private Limited, a Bharti Airtel Group company, operates a network of hyperscale and edge data centres across India. The company provides data centre services to enterprises, cloud service providers and institutions.

The proposed facility is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 300 people, both directly and indirectly. It is also likely to encourage the growth of ancillary businesses and create opportunities in sectors associated with information technology, cloud computing, data storage and digital services.

The development is part of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s broader strategy, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to position the state as a leading industrial and investment destination.

The Government has been focusing on expanding infrastructure in information technology, electronics and other sectors linked to the digital economy.

Commenting on the development, UPSIDA Chief Executive Officer Dr Balkar Singh said the proposed data centre would be an important step towards strengthening the state’s digital infrastructure and positioning Prayagraj as an emerging destination for data centre and IT-related activities.

He said investments in modern technological infrastructure would support the expansion of data storage, cloud services and digital technologies while generating employment and encouraging related business activities.

Singh also highlighted UPSIDA’s commitment to providing investors with the necessary infrastructure, procedural support and a conducive industrial ecosystem. He said the authority was focusing not only on conventional industries but also on emerging technology-driven sectors to meet the requirements of the future economy.

The proposed data centre is expected to further strengthen Prayagraj’s investment potential and support Uttar Pradesh’s ambition to become a major hub for digital infrastructure and technology-led industrial development.
