A specialised identification and recovery team from the US is in India to search for about 400 Americans, who remain unaccounted for since World War II, and are believed to have died in India. These American personnel can either be prisoners of war (POW) or missing in action (MIA).
The USA Defence POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) will be conducting search operations in Arunachal Pradesh as majority of missing Americans are believed to be located in this area.
