Upset over father's alcoholism, teen kills self in TN

Seventeen-year-old Dinesh Nallasivan of Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu would be remembered for a long time to come. This boy committed suicide on early Wednesday morning by hanging self from a railway overbridge. It was not because of his fear of failing in the examination or due to failure in his love affair. Dinesh was upset  with his father’s addiction for alcohol.  In a suicide note recovered by the police, Dinesh has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Edappady Palaniswamy to enforce total prohibition.

His body was found hanging from a railway overbridge in Tirunelveli and heart rending scenes followed as his parents wailed over the death of their son. What made the suicide bizarre was the emotional note left by Dinesh to Prime Minister and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappady Palaniswamy. “Please shut down the liquor shops. If liuor shops are not closed , I’ll come as a ghost and eliminate the liquor shops,” Dinesh had written before he took to the extreme measure.

Having fed up with the drinking bouts of his father, Dinesh had made a plea to him also. “Appa… please stop drinking at least after my death. Since you are addicted to alcohol , please do not perform my final rites. My soul will get peace only if you stop taking alcohol,” says the note.
