Poll bound Karnataka is witnessing many political theatrics of all sorts. Well known Kannada actor Upendra who is called Uppi in the tinsel world now has floated a new political outfit called Karnataka Prgnavantha Janatha Paksha(KPJP) on Tuesday to cleanse the system.
Actor turned politician Upendra wants to give a clean and people centric politics in the State to take on big powers. In August by announcing his decision to plunge into politics, Upendra surprised many in politics as well as in the sandalwood. In a press conference in Bengaluru, he said “I’m a success story the moment I enter politics. I don’t want to die with regrets of not doing things that I aspired to do. I am not worried about winning or losing.” Describing the task of winning elections as “mission impossible”, he said his party candidates will contest elections in all the assembly constituencies in 2018.
“Our party may win all the seats in Karnataka or none,” he said. “I’m expecting for a revolution” he said.“Instead of looking for better options, I am trying to be the option that I have been looking for” We can’t just sit and whine about how bad is our system. We should try and change it,” he added. Upended said that and his party will work towards fulfilling all his promises.
“let’s make sure people don’t lose hope this time,” he told the media. Upendra said he would deal with all the issues the State is facing which include Kalasabanduri to Veerashaiva or lingayat to any other issue in an emotional manner.
He added he has received support from friends in the film fraternity.
“Yash, Shivaraj Kumar, Sudeep among others spoke to me after I announced my political entry.”
He is the latest film star to join the bandwagon of the actor-turned-politician in South. He was reminded that many successful actors like Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan have failed to become a hit with people when it came to politics and that not every actor can become MGR or Jayalalithaa. Recently, veteran actor Kamal Haasan is making news about his political intentions. In Karnataka many actors are successful politicians but they have never floated a political party. 50 years old Upendra dreams of taking the political stride on his side. For him the ensuing elections for the State are an acid test and ready take whatever happens in his stride.
