UP youth Cong finally gets into poll mode

With election for Uttar Pradesh Assembly just  18 months away, the youth wing of the Congress had yet to form any strategy to take on the State or Union Governments on their failure to meet their poll promises, or on the deteriorating law and order situation. “We had gathered here to discuss and form a strategy on how to take on the Central or State Government on their failure to implement their manifestoes or the promises of ‘achchhe din’ showed to the public,” asserted president of the All India Youth Congress, Amrinder Singh Brar. Brar, who is an MlA from Punjab, was taking to mediapersons just before the beginning of the meeting of Youth Congress officer-bearers and members from the State here on Thursday afternoon.
“There are several issues like law and order disruption in the State in which even the Samajwadi Party leaders are found to be involved which is a serious matter,” he pointed, saying that after adopting a strategy, they would go and oppose both the State and Central Governments for cheating the public by making false promises during their last election campaign.
Interestingly, when over six months have already passed since the Congress launched its membership drive in the country including Uttar Pradesh, Brar claimed that they will also discuss how to attract more and more youths to join Congress and to give new lease of life to the party. “We will also discuss how to attract the youths in this biggest State as without taking them into confidence over the Congress’ development and secular policy, they could not revive the party,” added Brar.
It may be mentioned that the Congress had extended it membership drive date thrice and lastly, it has been extended for indefinite period. Sources said that the move was made by All India Congress Committee after finding that the party leaders had taken the joining slips from the State head-quarter but almost all of them had not submitted it back confirming that how many members had joined this oldest political outfit of the country.
When questioned that he became national Youth Congress president in January this year than how he visited UP after almost passing of half a year, Amrinder defended himself claiming that he had already visited Western UP twice but this was his first visit to lucknow. “No one could ignore UP and it is also on top priority list as this State plays important role in Government formation at the Centre”, he added. Besides, he also demanded to book Union Minister Sushma Swaraj on charges of treason and to remove her and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje from their posts, for having helping lalit Modi, an absconder wanted by the Enforcement Directorate.
