The powerful currents unleashed by the landslide victory of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections were being felt in both the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and were likely to give a shot in the arm to the saffron party.
While the BJP was already a part of the TDP led Government in Andhra Pradesh, it was yet to make its presence felt in the newly formed Telangana State.
Though the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amith Shah during their visits to Telangana had made their best efforts to enthuse the cadre and gave them ‘Mission 2019” to bring the party to power in the State, it had failed to have desired impact and the organisation was still in dormant mode.
However, after the latest emphatic win riding on the shoulders of Modi wave in UP, the party was now energised and looking forward to the forthcoming visit of Amit Shah to Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana. Shah was scheduled to spend three days in Telangana next month to devise the strategy for strengthening the party’s structure and implement the booth committee plan.
The State BJP President K lakshman was confident that the party will win the 2019 elections in the State. “We will reach out to the people and go to each and e very house in the State highlighting the achievements and policies and programs of Prime Minister Modi and we will also expose the failures and anti people policies of TRS Government”, he said.
Meanwhile the UP results will also revive the efforts of State’s ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) to join the Modi led coalition at the Center. Though the speculations were rife for a long time that KCR was making overtures to Modi with the intention of joining the Union Government, the plan was apparently kept on the back burner in view of the elections in the five States.
With Modi clearly establishing himself as the most popular and strong leader in the country today, KCR may take the final plunge if the BJP central leadership gives its nod.
KCR was quick to congratulate Prime Minister on the victory in UP and Uttarakhand elections. In his greetings KCR expressed hope that massive success would help Modi to work with renewed energy for development.
“I congratulate you on the phenomenal success of your party in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly elections. Iam sure this inspire you to work with renewed energy towards the progress and prosperity of the nation”, KCR said in his letter.
KCR was likely to use the 12 per cent reservation quota promise to keep the Muslim minority in good humour while wooing the BJP at the Center. KCR has announced that the 12 per cent quota bill will be moved in the current Budget session of the State legislature.
In Andhra Pradesh too the Modi wave in UP was likely to pour water on any plans of the TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu to either part ways or browbeat the BJP.
Any voice of protest over the Center’s attitude towards Andhr Pradesh was unlikely to be heard immediately as the TDP would likely to keep the BJP in good humor till the 2019 elections.
BJP on the other hand was likely to become more demanding in Andhra Pradesh and
step up the pressure on the TDP by taking more steps to grow organisationally. Amit Shah will also be paying more attention to strengthen his party in the State.
