Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s transformation over the past nine and a half years, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that the State aims to provide one lakh Government jobs over the next six months. He added that appointment letters for nearly 4,500 sub-inspectors would be distributed as early as next week.
Addressing the Youth Icon Conclave in the State Capital, the Chief Minister outlined the State’s rapid progress across law and order, women’s safety, employment generation, entrepreneurship, and technology-led infrastructure.
The Chief Minister noted that a vastly improved law-and-order environment has bolstered women’s safety and boosted their participation in the workforce. Citing an example of female employees at HCL’s Lucknow campus who safely commute for night shifts from neighboring districts such as Barabanki, Unnao, and Sitapur, Yogi Adityanath underscored how a secure atmosphere is fostering economic opportunities for women.
Highlighting the State’s employment record, Yogi Adityanath said approximately 9.5 lakh Government appointments have been made over the last nine and a half years, with a steadfast focus on merit and transparency. The State’s broader employment and business ecosystem has also seen an exponential leap; the startup landscape expanded from just 120 startups to 25,000, while nearly 96 lakh Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units now provide employment to over 3.25 crore people.
The tech sector has registered similar growth momentum. Giving the example of HCL’s Lucknow facility, he noted that its workforce expanded from around 100 employees to 12,500, with plans underway to recruit 6,000 more. He emphasized that the state is actively pushing forward technology-led initiatives in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, drone technology, and robotics.
Reflecting on the macroeconomic turnarounds, the Chief Minister pointed out that Uttar Pradesh’s economy has tripled from Rs 12 lakh crore to Rs 36 lakh crore, while attracting investment proposals worth Rs 50 lakh crore.
During the event, 37 young achievers were honoured as ‘Youth Icons’ for outstanding contributions in sports, entrepreneurship, art, culture, social work, and digital content creation.
