UP polls: PK asks Cong frontal organisations to place one member at every poll booth

Published on:

Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) made it clear to leaders of the party’s frontal outfits Minority cell, NSUI, Mahila Congress and Sewa Dal  to ensure at least one representative from their outfit in every booth during the 2017 Assembly polls.

PK interacted with leaders of frontal outfits on the second consecutive day on Friday. While the meetings were chaired by State Congress chief Nirmal Khatri, AICC general secretary and UP in-charge Madhusudan Mistri were absent.

Earlier on Thursday, PK had met leaders of the Youth Congress and SC/ST Cell in the presence of Mistri and Khatri.

“If every frontal outfit deputes at least one dedicated worker in each of the 1.40 lakh odd booths, then we would have won half the elections,” PK said exhorting the workers and leaders to work for gaining power in UP.

Accompanied by his specialised team, PK recorded all statements and demands raised by leaders of the frontal units and assured them that they could contact him directly to satisfy their doubts.

Nearly 20 members of Kishor’s team have already started working out of the UP Congress Committee’s office, where a penthouse to house Kishor’s office has been allocated and would start functioning soon.

At the meeting with leaders of Minority Cell, the common refrain was that the party should field more Muslim candidates like the Samajwadi Party and the BSP.

The representatives of  Seva Dal too demanded some seats for their leaders in the polls.

Mahila Congress workers were asked to identify seats on which musclemen were likely to contest so that the Congress could field strong women candidates. He has set a two month deadline for the frontal outfits to identify booth level workers.
