The UP unit of Bharatiya Janata party has alleged that police were persecuting party workers in Mainpuri on the directions of the local ruling party leaders and said that this partisan attitude could force the BJP to intensify its agitation.

He said there was an attempt to create a political divide. Directives have been issued to harass BJP workers. “The police know who the people behind Mainpuri violence are. But it is not interested in arresting them,” he said.
