UP IAS Association will celebrate the ‘IAS week” the traditional annual jamboree of the State cadre of IAS officers this year from December 1-4. This will be the first time that the association will celebrate the event twice in 2016. The earlier IAS week was held from March 18-20 this year. This event for 2017 was proposed to be held in January next year. The date has been advanced due to the State Assembly election in the first quarter of the next year.
All eyes will be on the IAS week whether Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav participates in the event as he did in the last four years. He not only enthusiastically participated in the event he was declared man of the match for consistently for four years in the cricket match between the CM XI and the IAS XI. The cricket match for the next IAS week is proposed to be played on December 4, the last day of the IAS week.
The decision to hold the IAS week from December 1 was taken at a meeting the senior IAS officers here in lucknow last week in the absence of its president Shailesh Krishna, who is presently posted in Noida. Senior IAS officer Pradeeep Bhatnagar chaired the meeting. The annual event of the UP IAS association was discontinued during the previous Mayawati led BSP regime and this event was not held for five years during her tenure as Chief Minister. It was in 2013 that Akhilesh Yadav okayed the event and it was restarted.
