The UP Government has recommended a CBI probe into the Hamirpur firing incident, in which a villager was killed in police firing after a teenage girl immolated herself on being allegedly teased by some youths belonging to the ruling Samajwadi Party.
“Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has recommended a CBI probe into the Hamirpur incident,” disclosed Principal Secretary (Home), Devasheesh Panda. He disclosed that local District Magistrate and police chief have sent a request in this regard on the demand of the family members of the girl. It may be mentioned that a mob attacked Biwanr police station in Hamirpur district on July 25 to demand registering of an FIR against the accused, who allegedly abetted the teenage girl to commit suicide. The girl was allegedly teased by Jitendra Yadav and another youth in a village in the district and beaten up by them for offering resistance.
