Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who on Thursday held a raod-show in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home State for upcoming event to woo investors – ‘UP Investor Summit 2018’, claimed that just a year ago Uttar Pradesh had a image of crime and corruption but, with the formation of Yogi Adityanath Government, the State started moving on the path of development.

The Deputy CM claimed that the BJP led Government in Uttar Pradesh adopted ‘zero tolerance’ approach toward crime and corruption, which resulted in encouraging environment for progress. “We have been able to create a fearless environment for investors. After considering and studying policies of various States, we have formulated our new industrial policy, which will encourage investments in Uttar Pradesh," he said adding that focal sector for the summit would be tourism but at the same time other sectors like textile, Information Technology (IT), pharmaceutical, leather, MSME and dairy would be given prominence.

He said that Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh shares deep routed relation since the era of lord Krishna who also came from Uttar Pradesh to Gujarat. The summit has been inspired by Gujarat Government’s flagship event for trade and investment Vibrant Gujarat Investor Summit, which was initiated in the year 2003 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Gujarat Chief Minister.

UP’s Commissioner for Infrastructure and industrial development Anup Pandey said that big corporate Houses including Adani, Torrent and other were personally contacted for the event. ‘”We are expecting large delegation from Gujarat as the Prime Minister’s home-state has emerged as Model state for other Indian states,” said Pandey. Unlike Vibrant Gujarat which is biennial, the UP’s summit would be an annual affair, he added. According to him Netherlands and Denmark have already given consent to become partner country for the event. "We are in talk with other countries to make the event global," he said.

After the road-show, UP’s Deputy CM Sharma made it a point to meet Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

UP Investor Summit 2018 will be held on February 21 and 22 next month at the capital city of biggest Indian state – lucknow.
