Gearing up for the lok Sabha election the State BJP unit has chalked out programmes for the next two months that include staging rallies and strengthening of block-level polling booths.

A cut-off date has been set for re-organising party structure at lower level. The district presidents have been asked to constitute booth-level committees by April 30.

The decisions regarding this was taken in the office-bearers’ meeting held at party headquarters on Wednesday.

“Two committees — election and disciplinary — have been constituted besides distribution of work among party officials have been finalised,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in his daily Press briefing.

In the four-hour long meeting, chaired by party president laxmi Kant Bajpai, leaders had a threadbare discussions over party strategy for the next election. It was decided that the party would start people contact programmes by organising ‘gaon chalo- galli chalo’ campaign in May.

“Through this campaign party workers would apprise people of the misdeeds of the UPA Government and achievements of NDA Governments in the States so that people could have a comparison of the performance of two alliances. This will help the people understand the virtues of BJP,” Pathak said.

“To ensure party’s message goes down to the village level 200 party leaders would be trained about party’s policies who in turn would impart training to leaders at block level. After completion of this training schedule party would organise workers’ level meetings at parliamentary constituency level,” the BJP spokesman said.

Besides, this campaign the party has also planned rallies that would be addressed by senior leaders. First of these rallies would be held in Nakkud in Saharanpur on April 12. This rally, called Kisna rally, would be addressed by party’s national president Rajnath Singh. This would be first rally of Singh after he assumed charge as president of the party for the second time.

“The next rally would be held at Deochara village in Bareilly district on May 1 followed by another rally in lakhimpur Khiri on May 15,” Pathak said, adding agitations at local levels would also be planned against failure of Government to open wheat purchase centres and increase in power tariff.

The party has re-constituted a 16-member election committee that would now comprise among others, leader of legislature party Hukum Singh, leader in Vidhan Parishad Nepal Singh, lalji Tandon and president of Women wing Kamlavati Singh.

The 5-member disciplinary committee includes Virendra Singh Sirohi, Chairman, Hanuman Mishra, Vibhuti Narain Singh, Krishna Gopal and Suresh Srivastava.
