BJP all praise for ‘growth-oriented’ proposals

BJP leaders and its allies heaped praise on the first Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday saying he has done “a great job” and brought growth oriented proposals to boost economy and help the aam aadmi.Newly-elected BJP president Amit Shah said the Finance Minister has laid down a comprehensive action plan for the revitalisation of the Indian economy. This Budget brings back “hope” into the economy and also lays the building blocks for our dream of “Ek Bharat, shreshtha Bharat”, said Shah.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Budget was poor friendly, youth friendly, farmer friendly, women friendly and senior citizen friendly. He rejected charge by Congress leaders that the Budget was “over ambitious”.Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the Budget seeks to improve the health and wealth of the individual and the nation.

“It is aimed at “operation revival’ of the nation’s economy. Manufacturing sector, agriculture sector, small and medium enterprises will get a major boost,” he said.Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, “It gives growth to the country and farmers, it is a good Budget. Tourism has also been given importance. It will help in the growth of the country. This Budget is to give employment and it will help in irrigation. Every State has got something.”

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said he was “not disheartened” by the absence of any financial relief for the State in the Union Budget, although the State’s ruling SAD-BJP alliance had been pushing for special packages to battle its economic woes.“We are not disheartened... We are hopeful of industrial packages in due course of time. It was difficult for the Centre to bail out any State at this point, particularly when there is fiscal stress and not-so good economic conditions,” Dhindsa said.

Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda said the Budget is the vision for total growth of the economy, the farmers as well as the youth.Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar said it is a “revival” and growth-oriented Budget. “It is a Budget with great imagination and potentiality. I welcome this Budget,” he said.

Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said the Budget leaves scope for new paths to development and creates new opportunities.“For Ganga, there is a provision of Rs2,000 crore and other Ministries also have their own resources. Now this country should get ready and the way in which former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee connected the entire country through roads under PMGSY, similarly the country would be connected through water as well,” she said.

BJP veteran and party’s manifesto committee chairman Murli Manohar Joshi said he is happy as Jaitley has taken care of important suggestions made in the party’s lok Sabha election manifesto.
