Ulfa warns Nagas against aggression

The anti-talk faction of the United liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa) on Monday warned the Naga aggressors to withdraw from Assam’s soil and asked for a clarification from the Naga leadership over the issue.

Ulfa chairman Abhizeet Asom issued a statement to the media on Monday and asked the Naga leadership to ‘explain without ambiguity’ why such a horrific conflict could take place leading to loss of lives of innocent people of Assam.

“It is with greatest of anxiety and horror on the unfolding of the massacre of people of Assam at Uriamghat, a bordering area of our respective Nations, I, as the executive head of Ulfa, implore the Naga leadership in the know to explain without ambiguity why such a horrific conflict could take place leading to loss of lives of innocent citizens of Assam,” the statement signed by the Ulfa chairman said.

“Unless the Naga leaders rein in their erring citizens immediately and issue a clarification on the current cross border atrocities perpetrated by Naga bandits and Naga leaderships choose to remain silent, we at Ulfa would have no option but to interpret such a silence as the Naga leadership being complicit in their citizens infringing on the rights of the citizens of Assam and in implementing a ‘Forward Push’ policy to grab Assam’s land,” he said.

“In solidarity with the all the organisations standing up to Naga aggressors, we are issuing this a fervent appeal and withdrawal from Assam’s traditional soil with immediate effect and to prevent such unwise moves permanently from now on,” he said.

The Ulfa leader also blamed the ‘Indian’ authorities for encouraging the Nagas to fulfill their nefarious design to keep our region under perpetual occupation. “But we have faith in the mature leadership and statesmanship of the Naga Nation to do the decent thing, so that both the Assam and Naga nations could live and prosper together as good neighbors banishing enmity and letting amity to bloom,” he added.
