Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat who has rushed to Delhi held consultations with top BJP leaders and party's lawyers on Thursday to discuss the legal hurdles in his election to the State Assembly before September 10.
Rawat who replaced Trivendra Singh Rawat as Chief Minister in March, this year, need to get elected in six-month time to retain CM post.
However, prevailing Covid-19 conditions have impeded holding of a bye-election. More than this, holding of a bye-election when a State assembly poll is less than year away and against the book ,has put a question mark on his election to the state assembly. Rawat is presently an MP from Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat.
The Election Commission has yet not decided any date for the bye-election , given the possibility of a third Covid19 wave riding the country.
