In a joint operation spread across different states, the Delhi Police Special Cell, Jharkhand ATS, and Ranchi Police arrested a suspected ISIS terrorist from the Islamnagar area of Ranchi and a man in Delhi. The arrests mark a significant move in India’s counter-terror efforts, as authorities continue to track and neutralize threats posed by extremist networks.
The prime accused, identified as Bokaro native Ashar Danish, was arrested from Tabrak Lodge in Islamnagar, Ranchi. Danish had been residing at the lodge for an extended period and is a resident of Petarwar in Bokaro district, Jharkhand. Danish was wanted in a case registered by the Delhi Police Special Cell related to an ISIS-linked module. One of the accused, identified as Aftab, was arrested in Delhi. He is a resident of Mumbai, and his arrest comes as part of an ongoing crackdown involving raids at more than 12 locations across multiple states. More than eight suspects have been taken into custody as the nationwide operation continues.
According to a source involved in the operation, five to six people have been detained from different states and the joint party is investigating their role. “Preliminary investigation suggests that both who were arrested were in touch with other members of an terror-module network and were engaged in activities aimed at furthering the terror outfit’s agenda in India,” the source said.
Danish had been on the radar of security agencies for several months. Earlier in the day, Jharkhand Police IG (Operations) Michael Raj S said, “The joint operation of Delhi and Jharkhand police is being conducted at several places, including a hostel in Ranchi. Some people linked to terrorist organisations have been detained, and interrogation is going on.”
