In connection with the case of alleged rape of a woman by suspended additional secretary Home JP Joshi, the special police team is yet to arrest the two accused who had allegedly demanded extortion of Rs three crore from Joshi for the ‘settlement’ of the case.
The district court on Thursday declared both the accused as absconding. State Director General of Police BS Sidhu claimed that the special police had completed its investigations in the case within 35 days of the case being registered. With court’s permission, the voice test of accused Amit Garg, Sanjay Banerjee and woman complainant will be conducted soon.
The police team has not received report on CD of alleged rape case which was sent for forensic test in the first week of December last year. The police have procured search warrant for two accused Delhi natives Asif and Ashwini from the court. Police will soon attach the properties of absconders. The police have also announced bounty of thousands of rupees on absconders. Moreover, the special police team had filed a chargesheet in the lower court against Joshi and expelled Congress leader Ritu Kandiyal on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the court had rejected bail plea of accused suspended joint secretary SS Waldia and expelled Congress leader Ritu Kandiyal on Thursday. The judicial remand of five accused including Sanjay Banerjee, Shahin Mac, Amit Garg, SS Waldia and woman complainant has been extended for another 15 days.
It should be mentioned here that the woman had filed a zero FIR at the Pandavnagar Police station in East Delhi on November 22 last year, alleging Joshi had been sexually exploiting her on the promise of getting her job for the last two years. The FIR had then been transferred to the Dehradun Kotwali on November 25. In collection with this case, Joshi had registered counter FIR under sections 355/304 of IPC against the woman and other two persons in Vasant Vihar Police Station.
