Two Sikh groups clashed in West Delhi’s Kirti Nagar area on Thursday over the ascendance to the throne of Guru in Namdhari Gurdwara. Even though some locals tried pacifying them, the scuffle went on for hours.
Police personnel were deployed there to avoid any untoward incident, but no formal case was registered.Preliminary investigations revealed that the Guru of Namdhari Gurdwara passed away recently and had no children who could inherit his position. One of his nephews ascended to the throne after the deceased Guru’s wife advised the same.
However, some people were not happy and they placed a portrait of the deceased Guru in Gurdwara premises. “Nobody has come to us to lodge any complaint as yet,” a senior police official said.
