Two ex-Ministers lose Council seat in Bihar

Giving a big jolt to the already demoralised Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) led by former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Bihar legislative Council chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh on Wednesday terminated the membership of two top HAM leaders Narendra Singh and Samrat Chaudhary alias Rakesh Kumar, both former ministers.

Technically, both belonged to the JD(U) but the party had petitioned that their membership from the Upper House should be terminated on grounds as both worked extensively against official candidates of the party in the just concluded Assembly election. Duo joined HAM but had not resigned their seats. Chaudhary had been made a member of Council by the JD(U) when he quit RJD and resigned his Assembly seat in 2013.

Earlier, chairman had terminated membership of another former Minister Maha Chandra Prasad Singh who had contested as HAM candidate in the Assembly polls and lost.
