Two riot-affected women, aged between 60 to 72 years, died due to cold in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts on Tuesday night. The victims were living in relief camps earlier but were evacuated by the district administration and forced to live hither and thither on their own. This is the fourth death of riot-affected people this week across the region. However, the local authorities have said that they can not do enough to protect the homeless people as they have officially closed the relief camps.
Mehmudan, a 72-year-old woman living in Shahpur camp, died while after reaching District Hospital of Muzaffarnagar. The condition of the victim was not well since couple of weeks but she could not get any medical assistance and lost her life. The victim was a resident of Kakra village and was living with her family in the area after violence erupted in September month. The Chief Mediacl Officer (CMO) of the hospital, SK Tyagi said that the condition of the woman was worse and we could not save her life with our efforts. As the cold has gripped the area, we can not save everybody and even people could be died in hospital,” said Tyagi.
