Two Delhi youth held for Bandra acid attack

A week after a 24-year-old woman suffered severe burn wounds on her face and hands in an acid attack at the busy Bandra Railway station here, the Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested two youth from New Delhi in connection with the disturbing incident.

A day after they were detained in New Delhi by the GRP officials there, the two youth were brought to Mumbai on Thursday and placed under formal arrest for their alleged involvement in the acid attack on Preethi Rathi, at the Bandra railway station.

Preethi, a nursing graduate from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh — who had been attacked with acid by an unidentified miscreant when she arrived in the metropolis from New Delhi along with her father, sister and other family members by Garib Rath Express on May 2 — is currently undergoing treatment for her burn wounds at Masina Hospital at Byaculla in south Mumbai.
