Two persons were killed in separate incidents of balcony collapse and fire here on Tuesday. In the first incident, a garment shop employee Jamshed was sleeping, along with four others, under a dilapidated balcony of a building adjacent to the NFC community centre when it came crashing down on him around 10pm. The five victims were pushed out of the rubble by locals. Fire department officials rushed them to the AIIMS trauma centre where Jamshed was declared brought dead.

In the second incident, a grocery store owner Vijay Sitaram was charred to death when fire engulfed his shop at his shop in Chanakya Place, Dwarka on Tuesday.

Sitaram stayed at an apartment above his shop and he was having lunch in his apartment at the time of fire. Hearing the wails of neighbours, he rushed downstairs and entered the shop to get his belongings but since the building’s exit door was blocked he got stucked. By the time the fire department arrived he was charred to death.
