TRS spending Rs 300 crore on Sunday meeting: Congress

Opposition Congress party has alleged that ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti was spending Rs 300 crore on its public meeting on Sunday.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy in a statement on Friday demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao should explain the sources of the massive spending. "TRS will be spending more than Rs 300 crore on the proposed public meeting.

The Chief Minister must explain the sources from where TRS was mobilising funds," he demanded.

State Congress president alleged that the entire money was the ill-gotten wealth of KCR family accumulated during the last four years through commission from contractors of different projects.

"Whatever money is being spent now by the TRS is actually public money which has been stolen from the exchequer through dubious means," the TPCC Chief said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also urged the Income Tax Department and other authorities to track the spending as well as trace the origination of those funds.

"This is pure black money which is being spent by the TRS. The IT authorities should prepare a detailed log of money being spent by the TRS for the venue, transportation, food and other expenses. The actual figure of spending would be mind-boggling," he said.

He also accused the Chief Minister of misusing the official machinery for his party's public meeting. "All the RTC buses have been blocked for the day which would cause huge inconvenience to the common people. Even Telangana State Public Service Commission exams are being postponed in view of the meeting," he said
