Noisy protests from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members against the “delay” in setting up of a separate High Court in Telangana also disrupted proceedings in the lok Sabha on Tuesday causing several adjournments.
As the House proceedings started, TRS members trooped into the Well of the House saying the Centre has not decided on setting up of a High Court despite its past promises. They said the State has already identified a building for housing the court as asked by the Centre.
law Minister Sadanand Gowda said the Government would be deciding the issue soon and delay was on account of a PIl filed on the subject in Andhra Pradesh High Court.
TRS members said that PIl had already been disposed of by the court. “What is the need of a discussion now. You need to take a decision,” TRS leader Jithendra Reddy said after Gowda’s assurance that he would meet all Telangana MPs within 15 days. Amid noisy protests, Gowda said he had met Chief Ministers of both States but needed to consult the Chief Justice of Andhra High Court also.
TRS members, however, remained unsatisfied and said “Parliament needed to be respected,” as it had passed Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act which had promised a separate HC for Telangana. “Parliament ki izzaat rakhiye...,” Reddy said. TRS members said out of 29 judges in the HC only six were from Telangana.
As bedlam and interruptions continued, Speaker Mahajan first adjourned the House till 11.20 thereafter upto 12 and thereafter until 2,00 pm.
