Telangana Rashtra Samiti on Tuesday demanded that Hyderabad should be joint capital of Telangana and Andhra States only for three years and not for 10 years as proposed in the draft State reorganisation Bill.
TRS member K Taraka Rama Rao, participating in the debate on draft bill went hammer and tongs against Seemandhra leaders and blamed them for the all round backwardness of Telangana region. He said the Seemandhra leaders while giving top priority to the illegal irrigation projetcs to benefit their own regions, completely neglected the projects of Telangana. He pointed out that the projects like Sriram Sagar and the left bank canal Srisaialm were yet to be completed. “If these projects were completed on time, Telangana would not have faced water crisis.”
Rao said that Telangana was drought-prone as Anantapur district but there was no body to even talk about it.
