TRS bags Council seat unanimously

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti began its campaign for the 12 legislative Council seats on a triumphant note with one of its nominees Konda Murli winning Warangal seat unanimously.

Konda Murli, a former Congress MlC and husband of TRS MlA Konda Surekha, was declared elected unanimously on Thursday after all the four Independents withdrew their nominations. Papers of other candidates were rejected.

Polling for the other 11 Council seats is scheduled for December 27.

“My election shows that the TRS is very strong in Warangal district. KCR is the only popular and respected leader in the State,” Konda Murli said after his election was declared.

Meanwhile, State Election Commission on Thursday issued notices to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son and Minister for Panchayat Raj K Taraka Rama Rao for alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct.

While KCR had allegedly stayed at an official guesthouse in Khammam, attended a meeting and made promises to the people, his son met some people in the State Secretariat and gave them TRS bandana or shoulder cloth. Both the leaders have been asked to reply to the notices within 48 hours.
