Strict action has been recommended against police and civil officers in whose presence workers of Aam Aadmi Party’s Ghaziabad unit burned an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday to protest the Bulandshahr gangrape in which a woman and her daughter were brutally gangraped by dacoits who dragged them out of a car on the NH-91 when they were travelling with their family from Noida to Shahjahanpur a few days ago.
According to sources, District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani has recommended suspension of police officers and punitive action against civil officers to the UP administration for “lapses” in their duties.
Officers in the dock included Inspector Kavi Nagar Ashok Sishodia, post in-charge and lIC sub inspector to the SSP Ghaziabad, city magistrate Brahm Dev Yadav.
Sources said action against the officers has been recommended despite a case being registered against protesting AAP activists. “AAP activists have been booked under Section 147 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant legal provisions,” said Kavi Nagar police station Inspector Ashok Sishodia.
