More troubles are brewing for the 22-year-old convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) Hardik Patel as the report of voice spectrograph test conducted on a video message in which the PAAS convener was seen advising a youth to kill couple of policemen instead of committing suicide has come positive.
The voice spectrograph test was conducted by the Gujarat forensic science laboratory professionals. It confirms that it was Hardik who advised the youth to kill cops instead of suicide. Patel has been arrested by the Gujarat police and following a court order he was sent to jail.
On Wednesday, the police placed the voice spectrograph test report before the Surat district court during the hearing of Hardik’s bail plea. The police refused to withdraw the sedition case against the pro-quota leader saying that the voice found in the compact disc presented by the police positively matched with Hardik’s voice. It was beyond doubt that it was Hardik who had given such an atrocious advice to the youth Vipul Desai who threatened to sacrifice his life by self-immolation bid in support of pro-quota agitation.
The police had arrested the PAAS convener on the basis of recorded message to the youth to kill cops and booked him on sedition charges. Since then he is in the jail. The Surat-based youth Vipul Desai belonging to Patidar community had announced publicly that he would kill himself to support the demand of Patidar to avail reservation in government jobs and education under OBC category. Meanwhile, Hardik during his visit to Surat made it a point to meet Desai and said, “Why should Patel youth dieIJ Instead, kill couple of cops.”
“The video of the conversation became viral on social media within few hours and police had no option but to take action against the PAAS leader. In fact following the video, policemen were attacked at several places in the State,” said a policeman involved connected with the case.
Hardik and other five PAAS leaders have been booked under sedition charges and are in jail with the Gujarat High Court rejecting their bail application. Hardik then moved the Supreme Court which too rejected his plea to quash the sedition charges against him but directed Gujarat police to complete its inquiry in 90 days and place the report in a sealed cover to the court. The next hearing in the apex court has been fixed on January 5, 2016.
