Alleged Trinamool goons on Wednesday attacked a BJP election rally in Kolkata injuring men and molesting women, a complaint sent to the Chief Election Commissioner by the saffron outfit said.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, the State BJP demanded immediate deployment of CRPF in the constituencies that will go to Assembly by-elections in a few days from now.The copies of the letter that were also sent to the Chief Electoral Officer, BJP president Amit Shah and others, said how a band of Trinamool goons led by local councilor Iqbal Ahmed attacked the BJP procession led by party candidate Ritesh Tewari even as the “police stood a mute spectator.”
The saffron outfit had in the past three months seen a dramatic rise in attacks on its party men by the Trinamool Congress. The BJP got about 17 per cent votes in the General elections.
