Hafizul Mollah, the trespasser who had sneaked into Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banner's house on Satudray midnight before being detained on Sunday morning by her security staff was formally arrested by the Kolkata Police. The accused was produced before a Kolkata court which on Monday ordered police custody for him till July 10, sources said adding the man was from Narayanpur village in Hansnabad block of North 24 Parganas bordering Bangladesh.

“He had entered the CM house at around 1.40 am on Sunday and was apprehended at about 8.30 am on the same day,” sources said adding the Chief Secretary had asked the Director General Security to explain the big lapse.

According to sources the same person had earlier sneaked into State secretariat Nabanna that houses the Chief Minister’s office. He was later released by the police.

“As this person’s conduct is ambiguous the police are investigating all the angles … one has to find out whether he was conducting  recee of the area or whether he was in some other mission,” said a police official.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties questioned the lax security network saying this could be a ploy by the State Government to divert the attention from main issues. “I don’t think any one will come to kill the Chief Minister … it is not the case … now the police will have to find out whether he came himself or he was planted in order to divert the attention from main issues,” said Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Chowdhury.
