The Union Home Ministry on Monday claimed that the transfer of IAS officers out of the Delhi Government was a “routine” matter.
According to Home Ministry officials, all IAS officers transferred have completed their three-year tenure and they would be replaced by officers of equivalent rank serving in other parts of the country.
Demanding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s intervention, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had shot off a letter to him saying his Government wanted to retain them as it needed “good officers”.
“Six IAS officers have been transferred out of the Delhi Government as they have already completed their three-year tenure. Orders have been issued to six other officers to join the Delhi Government soon as their replacements. These were routine transfers,” a Home Ministry spokesperson said.
The IAS officers working in Delhi belong to Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. The transfer orders were issued on January 10.
